Narok Design was founded by Tigist Yilma, an Ethiopian fashion designer whose love for creativity began long before she ever imagined becoming a designer.
Growing up, Tigist was surrounded by the beautiful handmade creations of her mother, who was known for her creativity and skill in crochet. From carefully handcrafted socks and scarves to beautiful sweaters and decorative pieces, her mother had a special talent for turning simple threads into something extraordinary.
She worked with both hand crochet and knitting machines, creating everything from warm sweaters and scarves to beautifully patterned bedcovers that decorated their home. Every piece was different, filled with thoughtful details, beautiful patterns, and her own creative touch.
For Tigist, home often felt like a little creative workshop. She remembers watching her mother work with threads, colors, and patterns, amazed by how something so simple could become something so beautiful. Without realizing it, those childhood moments were planting the seeds of her own creative journey.
Although her family encouraged her to focus on her education, her love for fashion and handmade creations never faded. As she grew older, she found herself drawn back to the creativity that had surrounded her childhood. Eventually, she decided to follow her passion, study fashion design, and turn her dream into reality. And that is how Narok Design was born.
